Siddique gives statement at court

NARAYANGANJ: Abu Bakar Siddique, husband of Bangladesh Environment Lawyers Association (BELA) Chief Executive Syeda Rizwana Hasan, has appeared before the court on Friday to give statement on his abduction.

AB Siddique is giving deposition at the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Chandni Rupon at noon.

Earlier, the district Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Nazrul Islam disclosed more details about the kidnap of AB Siddique at a press briefing at the office of the District police around 11:00am.

Later, he was taken to the Narayanganj 100-bed Hospital for medical check-ups.

Dr. Farhad Hossain conducted the check-ups. “His physical condition is good, but blood pressure remains slightly higher,” said Farhad.

“Having fishing the statement recording, AB Siddiquie will be taken to the spot, from where he was abducted, then to be taken to the Shamim Fashon follwed by handing over him to the family”, police sources said.

Nazarul, at the brief, said, “The kidnappers of AB Siddique were highly trained and the abduction was a pre-planned one.”

“An abduction case was filed on April 16 and the victim (AB Siddique) will be placed before court following the case, he will be taken to Shamim Fasion then”, he added.

In reply to question, the SP said, “The investigation will go on in systematic way. Motives of the kidnapping can not be disclosed for the sake of the investigation.”

“On Thursday midnight, AB Siddique was going to his residence by CNG run-auto rickshaw. Then a constable of Dhanmandi Thana stopped the auto rickshaw and informed me,” Nazrul added.

Allude to a group of miscreants abducted AB Siddique in front of the Bhuiyan Filling Station in Fatulla area of Narayanganj district on Wednesday.   

Later Rizwana filed a case with Fatulla Model Thana in this connection.
