Tazreen Chairman Mita gets bail

DHAKA:  A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to the Tazreen Fashions Chairman Mahmuda Akhter Mita in the much talked Tazreen fire tragedy case.

Dhaka district and session judge court judge Abdul Majid passed the order after hearing the bail plea.

Earlier, the bail hearing was held in the court at 10:30am.
 
Defence lawyer Md Golam Gaus filed the fresh bail petition for Mahmuda Akhter in the case.

Earlier, Delwar Hossain and his wife Mahmuda Akter Mita were sent to jail after the court has rejected their bail plea on February 9.

Earlier on February 11, Dhaka’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Ismail Hossain rejected the bail petition of Tazreen Managing Director Delwar Hossain but gave his wife Mahmuda one month’s conditional bail.

On March 20, the court cancelled the bail granted to Mahmuda Akhter and ordered her to appear before the lower court within 15 days.

Later on April 3, the court sent Mita to jail after she surrendered before it.

At least 110 workers killed in a tragic fire at the Tazreen Fashions and a case was filed on November 24, 2012 regarding the incident against the owner, managing director of the factory.
