DHAKA: The prosecutors Thursday concluded hearing on appeal petition filed by Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee challenging the verdict that sentenced him to death for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.

After hearing, the five-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain also fixed April 13 for defence counsel to response to the statement of state sides.

Four other Justices are Surendra Kumar Sinha, Abdul Wahab Mian, Hasan Foyez Siddque and AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury.

Attorney General Mahbube Alam Thursday concluded placing the state argument on 47th day of hearing.   He placed argument on all 20 allegations against Sayedee.

Meanwhile, defence counsel also concluded their hearing and placement of arguments.

On February 28, the ICT-1 sentenced Sayedee to death on two charges although it found him guilty on eight out of 20 charges brought against him.

Sayedee on March 28 filed an appeal with the SC seeking acquittal from the eight charges.

The government on the same day submitted another appeal to the apex court seeking death penalty for Sayedee on the eight charges, which were proved before the tribunal.
