FENI: A suspected robber was beaten to death and two others injured in a mob beating in Meher Ullaharpol area under Daganbhuiyan Sadar of the district early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Bachchu Miah, 45, son of Samsul Haque of Matubhuiyan union of the upazila.

Yakubpur Union Parisad Chairmen Abdul Hakim Jamal told banglanews that around 20 incidents of robbery took place in Kamullahpur-Ramnagar village in last month and locals started patrolling in the village every night.

On early Thursday, locals saw few people were roaming in the area. Then locals chased them and beat them, leaving three of them critically injured.

Later, police rescued the three injured man and sent to Daganbhuiyan Health Complex and later shifted to Feni Sadar Hospital where Bachchu died under treatment around 9:00am Thursday.

Daganbhuiyan Thana Officer-in-Charge Nijam Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
