3 cops shot in Cox’s Bazar

DHAKA: Four people including three policemen sustained bullet injuries in a gunfight with a gang of Yaba traders in Tekknaf Upazila of the district early Thursday.

Police, however, recovered 1000 pieces of Yaba tablets, locally made Light Gun, two rounds of bullets from the spot.

The injured are- Sub-Inspector Rajes Barua, 35, Constable Nihir Chandra, 38, Habibur Rahman, 38 and Yaba trader Ramjan Ali, 30.

Sources said that acting on a tiff of police conducted drive in the area around 2:30am. Sensing the presence of police, the gang of Yaba traders opened fire at them and in reply police also fired 12-round of bullets, leaving three policemen and a Yaba trader injured.

Confirming the matter, Teknaf Thana Officer-in-Charge Ranjit Kumar Barua told banglanews, “The injured were admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.”
