SATKHIRA: Two policemen and an activist of Chhatra Shibir were injured in a clash between the two sides in Debhata upazila of the district early Thursday.

The injured policemen are- Constables Sarwar and Akbar.

Sources said that activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, took position in the area adjacent to Ashsanulla College to create subversive activities. Later on information police went to the area around 2:30am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Shibir men blasted some cocktails, leaving two policemen injured.

Later, police fired six rounds bullets to disperse the Shibir men, leaving a Shibir activist, Sohag, 20, injured by bullet.

Confirming the matter, Debhata Thana Officer-in-Charge Jalal Uddin told banglanews, “The injured Shibir man was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.”
