DHAKA: A total of 12 people, including a police officer and a student, were killed in separate incidents in five districts including capital city in the country on Wednesday.

In Rajshahi, at least two people were killed and 20 others injured in a road accident at Charghat upazila of the district on Wednesday evening.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

In Dhaka Two people including a police man were killed and three more injured in a road crash in Sabujbagh area of the city early Wednesday.

Sabujbagh Thana Sub-Inspector Tajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Besides, a college student Raihan committed suicide in his residence at Wapda road area of Rampura in city around 11:00pm, said sources.

On the other hand, a passer-by was killed in a road accident on Banani-Mirpur flyover early Wednesday.

Confirming the matter, Cantonment thana police told banglanews, “On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.”

In Sirajganj, an elderly man was killed over land dispute in Kazipur of the district.

Confirming the matter, Kazipur Thana Inspector (investigation) Abdul Jalil told banglanews, “A case was filed in this connection.”

In Kurigram, Two minor were killed in a road accident in Rajarhat of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Anwarul, 14 and Ranju, 16, resident of Najim Khan Road area of the upazila.

Witnesses said a trolley knocked them down along with another boy, Saju, while returning home from Sindur Motir Mela in the evening, leaving Anwarul and Ranju dead on the spot.

Rajarhat Thana Officer-in-Charge confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In Chandpur, Three people were killed and four others injured as lighting struck in Haimchar Thana of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

Identity of the deceased remained unknown till the filing of this report.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Haimchar Thana M Mirajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Lightning struck three people at a tea stall in the area, leaving them injured critically, he added.

Local people rushed them to a local hospital where on duty doctor declared them dead.
