GOPALGANJ: A five-year old child drowned in a pond in Nagra village under Kotalipara upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Habibulla Rahman, 5, son of one Ali Noor Rahman, hailed from the area.

Locals said at a stage of playing near a pond Habibullah fell into the pond.

Later, relatives found the floating body in the pond, they added.

They rushed the victim to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared him dead.
