DHAKA: Police charged baton on a group of kids when they began making of a flash-mob for ICC World Twenty20 in front of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The incident took place at 11:00am when students of Aloron International School at Mirpur tried to stage a flash-mob marking the World T20 cricket final match.

Acting principal of the school Lutfun Nahar Dolly told banglanews: “We applied to the assistant commissioner of police (Mirpur) on April 3 seeking permission to celebrate the World T20 final.”

She added: “We were given a seal-marked latter on behalf of the commissioner, and no investigation came to us then, so we thought we were given permission.”

“On Sunday morning, we were about to begin the theme song in front of the stadium; at that time, several policemen started beating us indiscriminately, leaving school administrator ABM Kamal severely injured.”

Dance teacher Rana Goshawmi was also injured. “It was unexpected, shameful, and disgraceful,” Dolly added.

When banglanews tried to reach the police commissioner, he was available.
