HC issues rule against Haji Selim

DHAKA: The High Court on Sunday issued a rule against independent lawmaker Haji Selim asking him to explain within two weeks why contempt rule should not be issued for ignoring direction of the court.

The court also asked him to explain why he should not be convicted in contempt of court for barring to implement an HC order to evict the illegal land occupying in Lalbagh Fort area of the city.

An HC bench comprising Justice Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashraful Kamal directed the rule following a petition on contempt of court.

On April 1, Supreme Court lawyer Monjl Morshed sent a legal notice to Selim and two others regarding an HC order to evict the illegal land grabbers from the fort area.
