Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has termed the meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman as a "game-over" moment for political conspirators.

"This historic meeting between the leader of the interim government and the head of the country’s largest opposition party marks a defining moment," he wrote in a Facebook post late Friday.

The press secretary highlighted key achievements from Prof Yunus’s visit to the United Kingdom, including a prestigious award from King Charles and a private 30-minute discussion with the British monarch.

He described this as international recognition of the political and economic changes in Bangladesh since July last year.

Shafiqul Alam also cited a major development in the UK’s anti-corruption drive, revealing that the National Crime Agency (NCA) had frozen 320 properties worth £170 million linked to a close aide of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. "This is the largest asset freeze undertaken by the agency," he said, quoting NCA officials.

The press secretary framed the move as a strong message to corrupt officials, business figures, and politicians, emphasizing the interim government's commitment to recovering misappropriated assets.

He said that Bangladeshi and British authorities, including the Bangladesh Bank governor and the chief of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), had engaged in discussions to strengthen international cooperation in asset recovery.

"Hopefully, we can apply these lessons globally," Alam added.

He further said that Prof Yunus’s visit had brought renewed hope for progress on resolving the Rohingya crisis, though no specific agreements were disclosed.
