Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique said Prof Yunus will meet King Charles III, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and other top officials.
King Charles III will present him the “Harmony Award 2025” on June 12 at St James’s Palace, recognising his work for peace and sustainability.
Prof Yunus is also expected to meet UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, key ministers, and business leaders. He will deliver a keynote at Chatham House on June 11.
The visit will also address global issues such as climate change, the Rohingya crisis, and migration, while seeking UK support for Bangladesh’s development.
He will hold meetings with the Secretaries-General of the Commonwealth and IMO, highlighting Bangladesh’s global engagement.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur said Prof Yunus will raise the issue of recovering illicit funds allegedly laundered abroad during the previous administration, which is estimated to be $16 billion annually. The government has already sought UK assistance in this effort.
