A man, his wife, and their son were killed after a truck hit their motorcycle in the Asannagar area of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Thursday (June 5) afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mostofa Hossain, 45, his wife Selina Khatun, 40, and their son Mahin, 8, residents of Milemari village in Shailkupa upazila.

According to eyewitnesses, the family was traveling towards Jhenaidah town when a truck from Kushtia struck their motorcycle in Asannagar area. Mahin died instantly, while locals rushed Mostofa and Selina to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Dr. Shoa Israil, from Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital’s emergency department, confirmed that both victims died before reaching the hospital.

Jhenaidah Arappur Highway Police Inspector OC Mrityunjoy said that police have been sent to the scene, and the victims’ bodies have been taken to the hospital morgue.

Authorities are continuing legal proceedings regarding the accident, he added.
