British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke met Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka, ahead of his official visit to the United Kingdom.
Cooke congratulated Yunus on receiving the prestigious King Charles Harmony Award, which he called “a great honour.”
He is scheduled to visit the UK from June 9 to 13 and will meet senior British officials during the trip.
Their discussion covered trade, investment, aviation, migration, and Bangladesh’s asset recovery efforts. They also talked about the interim government’s reform initiatives and current political developments.
Yunus said that the second round of talks between the National Consensus Commission and political parties is underway and nearing completion.
He also sought UK technical support for ocean research and training by British experts.
The meeting was attended by Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi, SDG Coordinator Lamiya Morshed, and UK Deputy High Commissioner James Goldman.
