Met office forecasts light to moderate rain across Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in parts of the country over the next 24 hours starting this morning.

Most areas in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. A few places in Rangpur and Rajshahi may also see rainfall.

Moderately heavy to very heavy showers are expected in parts of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet due to a well-marked low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay, which may intensify further.

The southwest monsoon has advanced into Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and parts of Dhaka division.

Day temperatures may drop by 1–2°C, while night temperatures are expected to decline slightly. On Tuesday, the highest temperature was 38.4°C in Sylhet, and the lowest was 24.4°C in Bandarban. Ambagan recorded the highest rainfall at 27mm.

In Dhaka, sunset is at 6:40 PM today and sunrise at 5:12 AM tomorrow.
