DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributed cheques of financial assistance to the families of 53 Rana Plaza tragedy victims Wednesday.

The cheques were handed over Gono Bhaban while identity of the 53 victim families was ascertained through DNA test of members.

The Prime Minister so far distributed a total of BDT 221,155,720 among the relatives of the 909 deceased and injured in the Rana Plaza collapse from her relief fund.

PM`s assistant personal secretary (APS) Saifuzzaman Shikhar conducted the cheque distribution programme while PMO secretary Abul Kalam Azad and BGMEA president Atiqul Islam were also present.
