HC issues rule to form monitoring cell

DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday issued a rule upon the government to form a monitoring cell to supervise all public and private hospitals and clinics.

An HC bench comprising Justice Mirza Hossain Haider and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam passed the order after holding a primary hearing on a writ petition filed on public interest on Wednesday.

The court also asked to explain why it should not issue orders to form a monitoring cell.

It also wanted to know why directives should not be issued to formulate laws with the view to shut unregistered private hospitals and clinics.

Besides, the court also issued an interim order which asked to submit the answer of the rule to the court within four weeks from the secretaries of health, law and home ministries.
