Foreign Affairs Adviser to the interim government, Tawhid Hossain said Dhaka has not yet received a response from New Delhi regarding the recent push-in incident involving Indian nationals.
He made the remark during a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (21 May).
“A letter has been sent to India on the push-in issue, but we haven’t received a reply yet,” said Tawhid Hossain.
He said, “If any Indian nationals have entered Bangladesh through push-in, they must return to their country.”
The Adviser said that Dhaka is sending another letter to Delhi over the suspension of Bangladeshi goods at land ports. However, there is no decision yet to cancel any bilateral agreements signed with India.
Regarding the change in foreign office leadership, Tawhid Hossain confirmed that Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin is voluntarily stepping down.
A new secretary will be appointed within a day or two, he added.
