National Security Adviser (NSA) Major General (Retd) Khalilur Rahman on Wednesday said he does not hold any American passport.
He made the remark at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
“I do not have any American passport. Just because someone lives abroad does not mean they are a citizen of that country. BNP leader Tarique Rahman has also lived abroad,” he told reporters.
Responding to recent claims, the NSA said, “If anyone can prove I am a citizen of another country, let them do so. Throwing stones at others can sometimes backfire. This kind of allegation is unfortunate.”
Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir were also present at the briefing.
