MYMENSINGH: A presiding officer was detained on charge of negligence in duty in Dhobaura upazila of the district early Saturday.

The detainee is Khayrul Islam.

Officer-in-Charge of Dhobaura Thana M A Haque informed banglanews that polling officers were asked to stay at the polling center from day before of voting.

During his visit in the Chandrakona government primary school center on Friday night, upazila election officer Shamsul Haque found presiding officer Khayrul absent there.

Later, police held him from a house near to the vote center, the OC added.
