17 killed in road crashes

DHAKA: Some 17 people, including five of a family, were killed in separate road accidents across the country on Thursday.

Of them, six including five of a family, were from Brahmanbaria, four in Madaripur, three in Feni and one each in Gaibandha, Kishoreganj, Burichang and Ashulia of Savar.

Brahmanbaria: Six people, including five of a family, were killed in a road accident at Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Thursday afternoon.     
 
The deceased were identified as SHahjahan Mia, 40, his wife Rawsan Ara 35, son Ashraful 8, daughters Swapna 4 and Ratna 6 and CNG driver Hasem Mia 30 of Paturia village under the upazila.

Feni: Three people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Fatehpur rail crossing area of Feni sadar on Thursday evening.

The deceased were identified as dead Sayra Begum, 40, Sujon, 30, Jashim Uddin 45 and Nurjahan 80, Apu, 11 and another unidentified.

Madaripur: Four people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Mostafapur area of the district early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Shipon Hawlader, 25, driver of a human hauler, Shefali Begum, 40, of Kalkini upazila, Chompa Akhter, 14, Happy Akter, 18, residents of Kendua area of the district.

Savar: An RMG worker Nannu, 30 was killed in a road accident On Nabinagar-Chandra Highway of Ashulia area of Savar around 8:00am Thursday.

Comilla: A seven-year old girl Maisha was killed in a road accident in Burichong upazila of the district around 9:00am Thursday.

Kishoreganj: Sonam Uddin, 60 was killed as a train knocked him in Kuliar Char area of the district on Thursday afternoon.

Gaibandha: Janab Ali, 70 was killed in Palasbari as a microbus knocked him around 2:00pm Thursday.
