Hasina sees BD a develop country soon

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said after 1971 Liberation War, Indian forces were sent back to their own county by the strong leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.   

“He (Bangabandhu) reformed the war devastated Bangladesh. On the other hand, Ziaur Rahman rehabilitated the war criminals and made them as ministers,” said Hasina.      
 
The premier said this at a mammoth rally at historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Friday afternoon on occasion of historic March 7.   

Sheikh Hasina said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had called the Guerrilla attack against the Pakistani military forces.     

Mentioning various development works by the ruling Awami League, Hasina said today Bangladesh has acquired the ability to stand on by its own foot.        

She alleged in BNP-Jamaat government’s tenure from 2001-2006, ruling men were engaged themselves in various crimes including killing, torture, disappearance and corruption.    

Sheikh Hasina has also pledged to build a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh with the spirit of Liberation War.  

She urged the people to get united against the evil forces and hope Bangladesh will be a develop country very soon and it will be the example in South Asia economically.     

Earlier in the day, the mass rally of ruling Awami League has begun at 3:05pm.         

President of ruling Awami League, also the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina arrived at rally venue at 4:35pm Friday.   

Thousands of party leaders and activists were thronged at the venue.    

Party’s presidium Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury presided over the rally.      

Additional security measures had been taken surroundings the rally venue.                         

On this day in 1971, the undisputed leader of the Bengalis Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered a speech of independence in front millions of freedom-loving people at the Race Course Maidan, now known as Suhrawardy Udyan, in Dhaka.  

The Bengali people were inspired to prepare for a potential war of independence, amid widespread reports of armed mobilization by West Pakistan.
