PM urges to take back Rohingyas

NAY PYI TAW, MYANMAR: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked Myanmar President Thein Sein to take back Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh.

She came up with the urge while addressing a bilateral meeting at the Presidential Palace in Myanmar capital.

The president of the country cordially received her proposal and said that the issue of these two friendly countries can be solved together through further discussions.

Personal assistant to Sheikh Hasina, M Mahbubul Haque Shakil, told banglanews that leaders of the two countries discussed and emphasized strengthening the development and financial relationship between the two countries.

They also discussed on increasing business, inter communication and other bilateral interests between Bangladesh and Myanmar, he added.

M Mahbubul Haque Shakil further said that the one-hour meeting was held in a congenial atmosphere.

Myanmar President Thein Sein greeted Sheikh Hasina for reelecting as prime minister for the third time. Moreover, he invited her to have a dinner together on Monday night.

Sheikh Hasina also met Myanmar opposition leader and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Rule of Law and Tranquility Aung San Suu Kyi at her parliament office.

Hasina is also likely to visit the National Parliament of Myanmar and sign on the visitor’s book.

The summit of the seven-nation regional body of South Asia and South East Asia will be held at the Myanmar International Conference Centre in the country’s capital Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

The BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) groups Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
