DHAKA: General Secretary of Dhaka Bar Association Khorshed Mia Alam on Wednesday said the election of Dhaka Bar for 2014-15 is scheduled to be held on February 26 and 27.

An election commission has been formed comprising six election commissioners, 54 members and one chief election commissioner in this connection.

Former president of Dhaka Bar Advocate Abdus Sabur was made the chief election commissioner for the election.

Six other commissioners are former senior vice-president Advocate Sahab Uddin, vice president Advocate Ali Ahmed, vice president Advocate Ekhlasur Rahman, former treasurer Mohammad Mohsin, current treasurer Nazrul Islam Shamim and Advocate Matiur Rahman Bhuiyan.

Total number of voters in this year’s election is 16,000. Those who are voters of Supreme Court Bar Association also can cast their vote.

Awami League-backed ‘Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad’ and BNP-Jamaat-backed ‘Jatiyabadi Ainjibi Forum’ have already started their campaign.
