Singapore, Sri Lanka, SAARC greet PM

DHAKA: Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa and SAARC Secretary General Ahmed Saleem Tuesday has congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her assuming of office as prime minister.

Lee Hsien Loong congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her re-election and appreciated the steady progress of Bangladesh has made in achieving MDGs, and for her impressive economic performance despite numerous global challenges.

The premier of Singapore underlined on further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

In another message, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa congratulated Sheikh Hasina for her re-election as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The Sri Lanka President evinced his keen interest for continued engagement to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.      

SAARC Secretary General Ahmed Saleem also congratulated
Hasina for assuming power.

Terming Bangladesh as a founding member of the SAARC, the Secretary General expressed hope that Bangladesh will extend continued support and cooperation in furthering the cause of regional cooperation for the common benefit of the peoples within the group.
