DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah in three cases, including the May 5 Hefajat mayhem in the city.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge M Jahurul Haque passed the order after the hearing of the cases.

Advocate Sanaullah Mia, Mohsin Mia, Emdadul Haque Lal and other lawyers moved for the accused in the case.

Emdadul Haque Lal confirmed the matter to banglanews about the rejection of Hannan’s bail plea.

Meanwhile, the High Court directed not to arrest and harasses Hannan Shah without appropriate legal proceedings.

A HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Choudhwry and Justice Habibul Gani issued the order after hearing a writ petition.  

On November 25, BNP leader Hannan Shah was nabbed by law enforcers from city’s Baridhara area.
