2 drown, minor missing in Padma River in Munshiganj

Two people drowned and one school boy went missing while taking bath in the Padma River at Tongibari in Munshiganj on Saturday (April 13).

The deceased identified as Riyadh Ahmed Raju, 45, an additional chief engineer of Bangladesh Railway and banker Jewel Rana, 40.

Riyadh Ramin Arid, son of Raju a Class 10 student of Milestone School, went missing in the incident, chief of Dighirpar Police Investigation Centre Ansaruzzaman said. 

He said the incident was occurred in the river near Dhankora Bazar under Dighirpar union under the upazila around 4pm.
 
A group of 30-35 people from Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area took a boat ride in the river a day on Eid-ul-Fitr holiday this afternoon, he added.
 
Of them, 10-12 people stopped the boat near Dhankora to take a bath in the river and three of them went mission, he said.
 
Being informed, members of Fire Service from Munshiganj sadar and Tongibari upazila and river police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two.

They are still carrying out operation to rescue the missing school boy.
