Four killed in Bogura bus-car collision

At least four people were killed and two others injured after a bus collided head-on with a private car in Bogura on Saturday (April 6).

The accident took place around 10:15 am on the Naogaon-Bagura regional highway in front of Erulia High School in Bogura Sadar upazila.

Three of the deceased were identified as Faim Hossain, 55, joint general secretary of Bogura district Motor Workers Union, its members Abdul Hannan, 44, and Alamgir Hossain, 42.

Quoting witnesses, Bogura Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman said the victims faced the tragic accident when they were heading towards Naogaon from Bogura.

Their car collided head-on with a passenger-carrying bus while attempting to overtake a speedy truck, leaving three dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

Later, one of the unidentified injured passengers died around 2:30 pm while undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, police seized both vehicles from the spot, however, the driver of the bus and his associate managed to flee the scene, the police official added.
