Today is the 69th birthday of Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq. He is the first person in the history of Bangladesh who served three consecutive terms as the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

He was born on March 30, 1956. His father Advocate Sirajul Huq was an eminent lawyer and former member of parliament of the subcontinent. His mother Jahanara Huq was a freedom fighter and educationist.

Sirajul Huq was a founding member of Awami Muslim League and a close associate and confidant of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was one of the first people to enter India to seek help from the Indian government against the massacres by the Pakistani army. 

Anisul Huq was first elected Member of Parliament from Brahmanbaria-4 (Kasba-Akhaura) constituency as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in the general election held on January 5, 2014. He was then inducted into the Cabinet on 12 January and given charge of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Anisul Haque was re-elected as a member of parliament from the same seat in the 11th and 12th National Parliament elections held on December 30, 2018 and on January 7, 2024 respectively.
