Ramadan office timing from 9am to 3:30pm

The government on Wednesday (Feb 28) set 9:00 am to 3:30 pm as the office hours during the holy month of Ramadan.

The decision was taken at a regular Cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said at a press briefing.

He said the decision would be effective for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous offices during Ramadan.

He said there would be a break from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm for Zuhr prayers during office time.

But the Supreme Court, banks and other financial institutions will be free to decide their working hours.

Based on the lunar calendar, Ramadan is supposed to start on 12 February.

Government offices are now running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm to save electricity. Normal office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
