Fugitive life-term convict held in Ctg after 27 years

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive convict, who had been sentenced to life term imprisonment in a case filed with Kotwali police station of Chattogram, after 27 years.

The convict was identified as Ajay Rokkhit, 48, son of Shanti Rokkhit of Noapara of Raozan upazila of the district.

RAB-7 senior assistant director (Media) Md Nurul Absar confirmed the matter. 

He said acting on a tip-off a team of elite force conducted a drive in CEPZ area and arrested Ajay. The official said the arrestee in disguise had resided in different part of the country to avoid the imprisonment.

In primary interrogation, Ajay confessed that an arrest warrant had issued against him and to avoid the arrest he went into hiding.

RAB handed Ajay to Raozan police station for legal procedure, he added.
