144 more Bangladeshis repatriated from Libya

A fresh batch of 144 irregular Bangladeshi nationals, who were detained from different parts of Benghazi city of Libya have been repatriated to Dhaka.

They returned to Dhaka from Benghazi on a chartered flight of Burak Airlines at 4am on Friday.

This information was given in a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the notification, a total of 1,390 Bangladeshi citizens have been brought back to the country from Libya since July 2023. 

They were detained in various places including various detention centers in Tripoli and Benghazi cities.

Early in the morning at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Migration Agency welcomed the repatriated helpless Bangladeshi citizens.

At the airport, each of the repatriates was given Tk 6,000 as pocket money and some food items by the International Migration Agency.
