DMP directives for 31st night security

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday issued some directives to the dwellers of capital to prevent any unpleasant and unwanted situation while celebrating the 31st night.

In a press briefing at DMP media centre in the morning, DMP Commissioner Benzir Ahmed urged the city dwellers to abide by the directives.

He said police will be kept on alert to prevent all kinds of unrestrained behaviour namely ignition of fire works, indecent behaviour or reckless driving.

Benzir Ahmed also said that additional number of polices will be deployed at important intersections and places of the city along with setting up check posts for overall safety on the 31st night.

According to the directives, it is forbidden to arrange rally at the intersections or on flyovers. At the same time, people were directed to stop arranging programmes at the open spaces.

DMP also urged the dwellers of Dhaka University (DU), Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara area to return their residences before 10:00pm Tuesday (31 st December).

DMP also requested people to show their identity cards to enter the DU area and none will be allowed to enter Hatijheel area after 10:00pm Tuesday.

Besides, all the intersections of Baridhara diplomatic zone except the Banani crossing will be closed down after 10:00pm on the day, DMP directives said.

It also said that all the crossings except Palashi will be kept shut for the night to enter into Dhaka University area after 10:00pm.

DMP also advised people not to carry any kind of fire arms in these areas on 31st night.
