Laxmipur road crash kills journo

LAXMIPUR: A journalist was killed in a road crash at Chandraganj Bazar under Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as M Zakir Hossain, 37, News Editor of local Daily Jatiya Noor and son of Abdul High hailed from Begumganj upazila under Noakhali district.

Witnesses said a rashly driven pickup van rammed over him while he was standing by the road in the area at 2:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

Locals held the helper of the pickup van and handed over to police.

However, president of Laxmipur Press Club Abul Kalam Azad along with General Secretary Jahir Hossain and other members of the club paid homage to the departed soul and his family.

Chandraganj Highway Police Outpost In-charge Sub-Inspector M Abul Hashem confirmed the matter to banglanews.
