UN chief phones Hasina

DHAKA: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday called Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over phone expressing his concern over the prevailing situation and countrywide violence.

Press Secretary to the premier Abdul Kamal Azad made the disclosure on Wednesday afternoon.

Abul Kalam said, “Ban Ki-moon thanked the prime minister for her cooperation to the visiting UN delegation.”

Expressing home, the UN chief said the dialogue between Awami League and BNP would continue and be fruitful, he said.

He added: “Ban Ki-moon told the premier that he wants a peaceful election in accordance with the constitutional provisions.”
