Govt to take action if diplomats cross line: Shahriar Alam

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, on Monday (June 5) said, the government would take necessary steps if any foreign diplomat crosses the line.

The State Minister made the remarks when reporters asked questions regarding recent Japanese Ambassador Iwama Kiminori’s meeting with BNP.

The minister said, "Six months ago there was a phase. If it happens again, we will take steps. However, I am not aware of anything as of now."

When reporters asked regarding six congressmen's letter Shahriar Alam said, "We collected the letter. As like other letters there are inconsistencies; there are extravagances. There is also a major lack of information.  Congressmen's efforts are feeble and cheap."

"We will talk to those Congressmen. Not only this, we will inform them regarding the ongoing situation in Bangladesh," he added.

Earlier, former Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki made comments on Bangladesh's last national election, and Bangladesh described Naoki's comments on Bangladesh's election "unexpected."
