More than 44,000 pilgrims could not go to Mecca of Saudi Arabia due to visa issues, according to Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) and Ministry of Religion.

The HAAB and the Ministry of Religion disclosed this information on Saturday (June 3).

According to the information, the Saudi embassy issues hajj pilgrims visas when the conditions given for the agencies are fulfilled. Total 44,268 pilgrims have not yet received visas as the conditions have not yet been met.

The conditions are - Confirmation of accommodation, flight tickets, entry and exit routes and arrival and departure dates for pilgrims.

HAAB President Shahadat Hossain Taslim confirmed the matter to media. 

The agency owners have to fulfill each of the conditions given by Saudi Arabia for the visa. Failure to fill even one will result in no visa, he added.
