Five to die in Cumilla Ashik murder case

A Cumilla court today (June 4) sentenced five people to death for killing class eight student Ashikur Rahman Ashik in the district.

Besides, the death row convicts have been fined Tk 30,000 each.

The death row convicts are - Md. Sujan Mia, 25, Al Amin, 30, Sohail Mia, 25, Md. Shahin Mia, 27, and Md. Sohag Mia, 28.

Cumilla additional district and sessions judge 5th Court Judge Jahangir Hossain passed the order.

However, at the same time, the court also sentenced two people to rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk 20,000 each. They are: - Akimul Haque Madhu and Abdur Rahman. 

The court, however, acquitted another accused identified as Md. Sohel.

Cumilla Court Police Inspector Mujibur Rahman confirmed the matter.

According to the case statement, in 2012, the convicts killed Ashiq by slitting his throat over a love affair.
