Some 231 members will work for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) police unit in order to ensure the security of the country’s metro rail.

There will be three cadre posts and 228 non-cadre posts in the unit.

The public security division of the Home Ministry issued a gazette notification on Sunday.

The notification was published today (May 24) on the website of the Home Ministry, according to a media report.  

The government has given approval for the formation MRT police unit with a view to ensuring the security of the metro rail in the capital.

Mentionable, the MRT police unit is being formed after five months of the inauguration of metro rail track in the country
