An employee of a Naogaon union parishad land office died in the custody of RAB-5 after suffering from stroke.

The deceased was identified as Sultana Jasmine, 38, office assistant of Naogaon union parishad land office.

According to Sultana's uncle Nazmul Haque Montu, a former councillor of Naogaon municipality, "RAB officers picked up my niece around 10:00am from Muktir Mor area on Wednesday (March 22) by a white microbus when she was on her way to Land Office."

"We had been trying to trace her in various RAB camps since then but failed to locate her. Around noon, we received information that she is under treatment at Naogaon Sadar Hospital," said Nazmul.

Rajshahi RAB-5 Company Commander CPSC Major Nazmus Sakib said there was a complaint against Sultana Jasmine of financial scam, and allegations of unusual money transactions at her bank account. 

Based on the complaint, she was taken into RAB custody from Muktir Mor area investigating, later, she fell ill soon after arrest, he said.

However, she was immediately taken to Naogaon Sadar Hospital. After first treatment there, Jasmine was taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on the advice of doctors. There her physical condition worsened. She died of while undergoing treatment there, he added.

She died of a stroke last Friday at the RMCH, said the RAB official, adding after the legal process, her body was handed over to relatives on Saturday afternoon.
