The government today (Mar 22) reduced the cost of each of the two packages by Tk 11,725.

Besides, the religious affairs ministry said that the deadline for hajj registration has been extended till March 27.

On March 19, Biman's Managing Director and CEO Shafiqul Azim said that Biman will not slash this year's hajj airfare as they have given the lowest plane fares for Haj pilgrims.

This year's hajj flights will start on May 21, Shafiqul Azim added.

Besides, the return hajj flights will begin on August 2. 

Earlier on March 16, the religious affairs ministry asked Biman to reduce the airfare so that pilgrims can perform hajj smoothly.

The ministry also said they had negative reactions from different quarters, including pilgrims, hajj agencies, and the media, immediately after fixing of the hajj package.

The airfare was fixed at Tk 1.97 lakh for pilgrimage.

Earlier on March 14, the High Court commented that the Hajj packages of the present year are inhumane.
