A motorcyclist was killed after a bus ran over him in Kalyanpur New Road area of Rajbari Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (Dec 6) morning.

The deceased was identified as Imtiaz Ahmed Mridul, 17, student of standard nine. 

The accident happened on the Rajbari-Faridpur regional highway.

According to locals, Mridul was riding his bike on the Rajbari-Faridpur regional highway this morning. At that time, a local bus moving towards Faridpur hit bike, leaving him critically injured.

However, locals then rushed Mridul to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to injuries, added locals.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ahladipur Highway Police Station Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter.

The bus has been recovered but the driver and his helper managed to flee, he said, adding legal proceedings are underway in this regard.
