A man was killed and five others were injured as a bus hit an auto-rickshaw at Burichang upazila in Cumilla district on Monday (Dec 5) morning.

The deceased was identified as Abu Nayeem, 45, a resident of Sondram village in the upazila.

Mainamati Highway Police Station officer in-charge Akul Chandra Biswas confirmed the matter.

He said a Sylhet-bound bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction in Farizpur area at about 10:45 am, leaving at least six people injured.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to nearby Sommilito Samorik Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Nayeem dead.

The body was kept at the police station, the OC said, adding that five other injured including the bus driver are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
