Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested one person along with 16 gold bars weighting 1.857kg near Kalaroa border in Satkhira on Thursday (Dec 1).

The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Ahiduzzaman, 35, son of Sheikh Abdul Hamid of Keragachi village under the upazila.

BGB 33 Battalion disclosed this through a press statement this evening.

Acting on a tip-off, BGB took position near Haridash Thakur hermitage, arresting the person and seizing the gold bars, said the statement/

Estimated value of the recovered gold is Tk 1,59,70,200, BGB statement said.

Ahiduzzaman has been handed over to the Kalaroa Police Station and gold bars deposited with Satkhira treasury office, it added.
