A girl allegedly committed suicide after failing the SSC examination in Molanipara village of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Monday (Nov 29).

The deceased Shrabanti Rani,15, daughter of Ramesh Chandra of the village, was a student of Mathurapur High School.

Officer-in-charge of sadar police station Kamal Hossain confirmed the matter. 

Shrabanti's family members scolded her after they got to know that she failed to pass the exam, he said.

Shrabanti killed herself after swallowing pesticide, the OC added.
