BGB recovers 9 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered nine gold bars weighing 1.50 gm from Benapole border area on Saturday (Nov 26).

The gold was recovered from Amrakhali BGB check post area of Jessore-Benapole highway around 9:30 pm.

The man related was identified as Milan alias Chhota Babu, son of the late Mohar Ali of Sat Mile area of Sharsha Upazila. 

However, BGB could not arrest him. 

Jessore 49 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui confirmed this matter through a press release.

He said acting on a tip-off, a drive was conducted, meanwhile, the suspect and his van were asked to stop, when Milan quickly abandoned the van and fled. After searching, 9 gold bars weighing 1 kg 50 grams were recovered. 

The estimated market value of which is Tk 1 crore, he said.

An operation is underway to arrest Milan, the official added.
