Police arrested a local Awami League leader's son along with seven bottles of Phensedyl in Brahmanbaria on Thursday (Nov 24).

Mahi Sarkar, son of Al Mamun Sarkar newly elected chairman of Zilla Parishad and Awami League general secretary of Brahmanbaria district, was arrested from his home in Munsef Para area of the city this afternoon.

Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emranul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said Mamun made a written application to the police station seeking cooperation in sending his drug-addicted son to a rehab center. 

Later, the police conducted a raid and arrested Mahi along with 7 bottles of Phensedyl and his three accomplices, the OC added.
