Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (Nov 20) said import of fuel oil from India through pipeline will hopefully start next year.
She said: "Bangladesh wants to import oil from India through pipeline and hopefully it will be done in the next year."
The premier expressed her hope while Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary called on her at her official residence Ganabhaban here.
Biswajit was leading a four-member delegation that is a part of 32-member MLAs from the North Eastern Indian States visiting Bangladesh.
Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the reporters after the meeting.
The 130-km India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL) project aims to export oil products from India to Bangladesh.
PM Sheikh Hasina also said the border haats between Bangladesh and India in different parts of the two countries border line will resume its function as those were halted during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
