An officer of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) was killed and a member of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) was injured in a gunfight with drug traffickers along the border with Myanmar in Bandarban’s Naikkhyangchhari on Monday (Nov 14).

The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) disclosed the information in a statement.

The DGFI member was from Bangladesh Air Force.

Without revealing the names of the victims, the ISPR said the shootout erupted when Rab and DGFI were jointly conducting an anti-narcotic drive near the Rohingya camp along the zero point in the evening.

Injured Sohel Barua, 30, a member of RAB-15 Battalion in Cox's Bazar, was brought to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital around 9:45pm with serious head injuries, said Mohammad Ashikur Rahman, resident medical officer at the hospital.
