Coconut oil can be one such great addition that you can make in your diet when trying to shed kilos. From getting supple skin to lowering your blood sugar level, coconut oil is known for its amazing health benefits.

Why you should use coconut oil?

Packed with vitamin E, antioxidants and polyphenols, this oil helps to balance hormones that prevent weight gain caused due to hormonal imbalance.

However, not all coconut oil is the same. For weight loss, extra virgin coconut oil is considered the best as it does not contain saturated fats, which leads to a rise in cholesterol level and is responsible for weight gain.

Studies suggest that the way medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) are digested by our stomach, it helps boost metabolism and increase energy.

It was due to this factor, coconut oil became a staple in sports nutrition and have shown to improve athletes’ performance on the field. There are numerous sports bars and drinks available in the market that contains coconut oil.

How to use coconut oil?

There are different ways to include coconut oil in your diet. You can add it in your diet as per your choice:

-Saute vegetables and make curry using coconut oil. Do not add a lot of oil, just 1 or 2 spoon is enough.

-Add a drop of virgin coconut oil in your morning tea or coffee.

-Replace extra virgin olive oil with extra virgin coconut oil while preparing your salad.

How much coconut oil you should have in a day?

Coconut oil is good for health, but that does not mean that you will have it as much as you want. In any case, coconut oil is 11 grams of saturated fat. As per a study, consuming 2 tablespoons or 30 ml of coconut oil in a day is enough. You can take up to 39 ml of oil depending on your calorie intake of the day.
